How would you like having a camera shoved in your face? He's not used to it, since he's only pitched for small-market teams.

And he apologized. Not that he had to. The NY press are animals.

Hack

If you can just stop rooting for NY like that then you aren't a true Yankee fan. I live, eat, sleep and breathe the Yankees.

This RJ trade was a fantastic deal. Vasquez was inconsistent last year, so we were able to get rid of him and received the best pitcher in the game(even though he is old). Besides Vasquez, we only had to give up a tiny bit of cash, Brad Halsey(crappy pitcher), and Navarro(decent catching prospect). We got to keep our best minor league prospect in Eric Duncan.

We got a good deal. Rj's contract is only slightly more expensive than Vasquez's would have been, especially considering the extension terms.

You're not answering my question.

I am not Tim Hudson's boyfriend. You should like him though because he will be with the Yankees in 2006.

Hack
01-10-2005, 07:12 PM
What makes you say this?

I do like Hudson's talent.

Boris
01-10-2005, 07:28 PM
If Hudson stays free of injuries he will have a monster year with the Braves. I think pitchers enjoy an advantage for the first half of the season when they switch leagues. The Braves have a better bullpen than the A's so he should have alot fewer no decisions and more wins. The batting power in the NL East is no where near that of the AL West. Leo Mazzone is the Yoda of pitching so Hudson's 5 pitch command will be better than ever. All this adds up to a monster year for Hudson and I don't think the Braves will be able to sign him.

The Yankees will still need pitching next year and Hudson will be the premier long term solution on the free agent market.

ThaSaltCracka
01-10-2005, 07:29 PM
who do you think has a better year, Hudson or Mulder?

I am thinking Hudson.

Boris
01-10-2005, 07:33 PM
I think Hudson has the better year also. I actually didn't mind the Mulder trade. He was scary bad after the all star break so there is a risk of a serious problem with him. If his problem is mental then being The Man in St. Louis, where fans actually go to the ballpark, is not going to help matters.

Hack
01-10-2005, 07:35 PM
Of course Hudson is better.

Mulder and Zito are merely average pitchers compared to him.

He's not a power pitcher but he has a lot of weapons to take hitters on with.

Look at 2004. Hudson was clearly better than Mulder or Zito. Zito clearly has some mechanical problems. I don't know what's up with Mulder. He was a completely different pitcher after the All-Star break.

Your starting to piss me off. Hudson is a top 5 pitcher and there wouldn't even be an argument about this if he hadn't had an ungodly number of wins turn into no decisions throughout his career because of a crap bullpen.

Starting pitchers that are better than Hudson:
Randy Johnson
Pedro Martinez
Johan Santana
Jason Schmidt
Curt Schilling
Roy Oswalt

If you want to add some relievers we can throw in:
Gagne
Rivera

The rest is ambigous. I think Hudson may be a top 10 pitcher, which is pretty good.

I'll just add one more thing.

According to BP, Hudson was 20th in VoRP for pitchers.
here's the link (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/vorp_pitcher2004.html)

18 of those pitchers were starters.

I guess you can twist this however you want, but I will take BP's word and analysis over yours anyday.

chuuuch.

LMAO.

Oswalt? No.
Pedro? He's out of gas dude. Not as good as Hudson anymore.
His ERA doubled last year.

Jason Schmidt? Career era still 3.90. He's had an ok past couple of years.

And you can't compare relievers to starters.

You really don't know anything about baseball do you?

I just wonder who will be the biggest red-ass in the clubhouse - Brown or Johnson. Imagine if they pitch on back to back days and both lose. All of the toilets will be smashed.

Johnson has 240+ wins. If the bronx wins 105 a year, he figures that he is good for 20 a year which means that he will be to 300 by the end of the extension. 5 cy young's pushing 5000k's and 300 wins, he will be in the team picture with the greatest of all time...if he still can stand on the bum knee.

By the way - the "don't talk to me" brought back memories of Ryan Leaf's "Don't talk to me, alright?"
