Just wondering how many people here smoke (cigarettes) and why. Also wondering among smokers how many times you have tried to quit...

Yeah. You can't quit more than once anyway.
At least not by my definition of quitting.

The question should have been, "How many times have you failed when trying to quit? (smokers only)"

I smoke heavily. Here in Italy they introduced a law today banning smoking in public buildings e.g. bars, restaurants and even the office.

I'm thinking of moving to Spain or Portugal where you can smoke heavily without being ostracized

Pack a day 20 years.... Tried to quit once.... Second time quit.... No aids cold turkey.. Four years now.

Every time I see someone with a cigarette I want to knock it out of their hand and smoke it myself and I follow people on the street if they are smoking for the second hand smoke....

Never had one. That metallic sucking sound coming from the oxygen bottle every time my grandfather takes a breath has always been enough to keep me from ever considering a single puff.

I started smoking when I was 13 and smoked anywhere from 1-2 packs a day until i quit at age 28. At age 38 I started smoking for no good reason and quit 4 years later at age 42 and I havn't smoked since, and i'll be 52 in May 2005. I don't know what your definition of quitting is but by my definition I have quit twice in my life.
