View Full Version : Do these lammer buttons mean anything?

This web page (http://vegassuppliesandgifts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=LB) has several lammer buttons for sale.

Most of them are pretty clearly poker-related or otherwise casino table game-related. Eg. "Big Blind," "Little Blind," "Kill," etc.

Some of them are a little more obscure, but I can pretty much figure out what they're for. Example:

I assume this has something to do with craps.

OK, so anyway, there are a bunch of lammers on this page that are really funny, but I can't figure they're meant as anything but jokes. Do the following lammers have any actual use in a casino?

I think the ENVY one has to do with Pai Gow somehow. Not sure about PLUG though.

You should buy one of the "bluff" buttons, and break it out randomly when you play live to use as your card protector.

Scarily enough, I'm already planning on buying like 10 of them and giving them to friends, and to randomly throw them into the pot when I bluff.

"Envy" is used in PaiGow. It's placed in front of players who foolishly shell out $5 for the "side bet", which gives out an extra bonus for certain hands. The odds on this bet are probably the worst in the casino. The button shouldn't say "envy" it should say "idiot", but then again if you hit a really big hand you're laughing all the way to the bank.

Hop 8 Hard and Hop 6 Hard are for craps. When you bet on the hop, you are betting for a single roll. So betting a hard 8 on the hop means a one time bet that the dice will come up 4-4 -- probably pays 30 to 1 (where real odds are 35 to 1).

I believe "envy" also means that you get paid something when another player hits a big hand (in PaiGow).

As I recall (haven't played in a while), at some casinos there is a bonus circle and you can play the bonus for as little as $1. Bonus pays when you make a hand that is a straight or better (I believe). If you hit a seven-card straight flush, it pays some huge odds (but far less than true odds).

If you play the bonus for $5 or more you get the "envy" button and if someone else hits a huge hand, you make some extra cash as well.

Which of course will be awesome.

Still have no clue what they make that button for though.

Am I the only one who noticed that none of the descriptions on this page match the picture?

I plan on buying several bluff lammers and putting one on top of my chips whenever I make a big bet.

Does anyone know if these would actually be allowed on the tables? They are 1.25" in diameter, so definitely smaller than the real ones. As others have noted, these would make great card protectors, but I don't want to shell out the $2.99 x N if I'm not going to be able to use them.

What, I'm cheap /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've never seen anything like these before, and I have shot a lot of dice. Usually when some dumbass bets something on the hop, the stickman just yells out "HIPPITY HOPPIN THE HARD SIX" or whatever.

I resemble that remark... actually, not anymore... when I played dice and was running hot, I would sometimes throw out $2 and say "two-way 5-4 on the hop" or something like that. When it hits, the crew loves you.

OK, I'll admit, I've done two-ways on the hard ways a few times, but never on the hop. When I made the comment about dumbasses, though, I was specifically thinking of this one guy who occasionally threw out $100 hop bets on 12.

No problem -- I knew it was a stupid bet when I made it. In my dice days, when I was on a hot roll, I would play all different stupid bets -- often two ways. But I never put any significant percentage of my money in play on crazy bets -- if I had a couple of hundred laying across the tables, a few dollars on a hard way or the hop never seemed that crazy.

It was probably not +EV, but the dealers definitely kept an eye on me when I bet for them... they would tell me when I was missing odds or something seemed funky with my betting. (Twice over my long and unprofitable dice career, when I forgot to put my odds behind the line, I had dealers pay me for it as if I had.)

This would be funny if that Tiger guy hadn't been doing it for years. Plus he's lame.

Crap, I didn't know he had done this already. I still think it's funny and am going to do it.

So, so, so, so, so SUPER lame...

Though he did finally ditch the handlebars on the 'stache, for whatever that's worth.
