Zebra, I thought you weren't going to play these till you were at the 200 sng level /images/graemlins/wink.gif I saw you in one of my dad's 50 sngs while I was critiqueing his play.

Well, Im in table 80, bads33d.

Up to 2155 after some guy tilted me the rest of his chips, this would seem like a crazy call to most, but I usually drop QQ in this spot.

No read, these stack sizes... I'd probably fold.

Was down to t500 or so... started pushing with anything from 88 or AT on up... no calls for a while, and I get up to about t1050. finally lowered my standards and pushed on the button (folded to me) with 79h. SB calls with KK, but I hit a straight. Up to t2k.

But I lose t600 when I raise with AJ and have to call a push from a small stack. He turns over QQ.

Down to t1175 now as I've had no cards and have been blinded down a bit.

T2700 at second break. I called the push I asked about earlier and found myself against 88, about what I expected. I turned a pair but that was no match against his flopped set.

I've grinded my way back up to 2700, but less action then I would have like to have seen from KK, QQ and JJ... table is playing very tight (save one LAG), but I don't have enough chips to do much stealing of my own. Even trying to take advantage of the tightness isn't working... e.g. I open limped with KK from EP, folded around to BB who checks. Flop comes monochrome (I don't have the suit), so I'm forced to make an 'I'm serious" pot bet and succeed only in grabbing the blinds.

Nobody that I know of... just been chatting with him. Not even sure why. Just bored.

He made an insane call on the second hand of the tourney. Someone pushed all-in and he calls with 88 in the BB. Other guy turns over AK (yes, he made an insane push), and Lou's eights hold. He really hadn't done much after that early double up, but eventually won a thousand or so on KK vs. 33.

This was shaping up to be a dream hand for me... until the river. Big stack bully was raising literally EVERY hand since sitting down at our table 30 minutes before this hand. He would fold to large all-ins back at him, but was loose otherwise.

I know aces are dangerous, but I suddenly liked my chances in this tournament. Unfortunately, the poker gods decided to reward bully's bad play. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Okay, in an effort to get out of my brief depression, I'm taking another look at my tournament.

I already mentioned that shortly after first break, I was a small stack and pushed 79s on the button, and doubled up against KK.

Half an hour after the second break, I tripled up from t1400 when my EP desparation push with 55 spiked a set against JJ and AK.

Shortly afterwards, I went from t4800 to about t7K when my AT beat AK (other player had pushed and called with less than premium hands, thus I called his push against my raise).

Unfortunately, just when I thought things were going my way, my Aces got cracked by A6s. Bleh.

But still... I guess I shouldn't be depressed. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Geez, eks killed us both with suckouts, Pete.

Unfortunately, he pushed his way from that 276K to more than cover you before calling your all-in with A5s (!!!). Your AQ (I think that's what it was) goes down when he hits his two outer.

Nice tourney, Pete. You deserved better there at the end. eks22 definitely deserved worse.

I saw him make the wrong bets at the wrong time earlier and fall down to 6K when the average stack was about 19K. But he immediately went into push on every hand mode until he was back up to 27K and someone finally called (at the wrong time). He got real lucky not to run into a decent hand on several of his pushes. And lucky again to hit when called.

Of course, he finished second soon after you left, Pete, when his Ax was beat by AK on an A-T-T flop. As wrong as it was, it would have been so wrong if he had won this damn thing.

pete! monster score. very nice work.

i had the worst run of cards in my life last night. from having a nearly avg stack with 20 left i went about 100 hands without an A, two cards 10 and up, ANY pair or any suited connector 7+. oddly enough, it was my final hand A8o that was the best of my last 100. its painful to bleed out like that, leaving so much money on the table.

anyway, im glad to see that you took down a nice score!

thanks to zin (!), bads/aka donb, Zebra and all the other 2ers who were out in fine form last night. sorry if my game put any of you to sleep.

nas, i had been watching you for quite a while before you self-destructed. your game was right on, until you took a beat, then you just came unraveled. we all do it, you just did it at a bad time. next time, just stand up from your computer and walk around, do some jumping jacks, get a glass of wine, anything; sit out a few hands (check for aces) and cool off. after your beat, you still had a huge stack with a lot of room for manuevering.

Bernas
01-10-2005, 01:33 PM
Yeah, I usually play on Paradise and the $215 on Stars under a different alias. I have done pretty good at both but wanted to give this one a shot.

My bust out hand, the guy had exactly what I thought he had (A,rag). I just figured there was no way he could call an all in for his tournament life when he didn't hit an Ace on the flop. I don't dislike my play there.

There was only one hand where I should have played differently. That was the one against latinart where I lost a considerable amount of my stack on a bluff. Bad move. Should never try to bluff a bad player.

Lesson learned.

Bernas
01-10-2005, 01:40 PM
Yes, great advice. Normally this is what I would do. I was tired and didn't feel like getting out of bed.

Even still, I normally have better control. It wasn't the first time in the tourney that I had lost a good portion of my stack and had to build it back up. Just let it get to me that time I guess.

My problem was I never changed gears after I was no longer Big Stack. Don't know if I was tired or what, as that is unlike me.

Cheers,
nas

Hi All,

I was in this and was doing well. Key word is 'was'.

Here is goes:

for once i started getting cards early. Became the chip leader when I busted QQ from my AA big blind. There were about 1000 left when i became the chip leader at 9000 chips! stayed in the lead on first break. Then lost a couple , went down to 500 chips and came back at 12000 in the chip lead again!

King Medicine - I think you commented something about me definitely making the final table!

Pete - I think we might have been on the same table for a while!

After third break - I had 14k chips and there were two guys pn the table who had more than me. about 300 left in the tourney! I was doing well - stealing the blinds enough, not taking chances against big stacks.

any how, I get Kj suited on the button. BB is 600, big stack (26K) opens in MP at 1200. My first instinct was to throw away, but then I called (me at 14K) thinking i am going ahead only if i hit big, or he might be on low pair. well bingo - the flop is JJ7, big stack checks, i bet 2000, he min raises to 4000, i push he calls - and shows 77 !!!!!
I am out in 239th. the only two hands i was afraid of were AJ or 77, and his play would have been with anything from 88-AA!! Only if I had gone with my instinct to fold!

What do you guys think???

KingMedicine

I'll fold this even to a min-raise. You're behind too many hands, even if the flop comes K-or J-high. Once your miracle comes through, nothing you can do. AJ is possible but you are not dropping top set here.
