I slow rolled a 70 year old man at the showdown in a $2/4 game and then left the casino after that hand.

That will teach that guy to talk [censored] to me!

what was the hand?
what kind of [censored]?

Ok some background on the guy

There was a hand I bet the whole way with a flush draw from the BB, I hit it on the river and bet, and he calls. He rivered the nut straight with the same card that gave me a flush, and he did not raise, giving me the impression that he was stupid and weak/tight. Among other various things during the night that lead me to believe he was pretty horrible and tight.

So that sets up my thinking on this hand...

Old guy calls UTG, I raise in MP with JJ, but he limp-reraises me and I cap preflop (I think 1 guy stayed with us). The flop was 3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gifT /images/graemlins/heart.gif and he bets, I raise, other guy folds, he 3-bets, I call. Turn is a blank and he bets and I fold (I realize this is probably debateable, but but I feel that unless I put him on exactly these cards I had to fold) and he shows 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif6 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif and then starts talking trash to me about the being young and inexperienced and watching too much poker on TV or whatever.

So this sets up the final hand.

99 in UTG+1. I raise, people call, he calls in the SB or BB or something.

Flop is K J x. He checks, I bet, everyone folds, he calls

Turn is a 9. He checks, I bet, he calls.

River is a blank. Check, Bet, Call.

He flips over Kx and I say "I've got a 9" and flip it over, the dealer starts to push him the pot when I say "and there is another one!" and flip the other over.

lol you should have been like "WAIT WAIT WAIT LET ME LOOK AT MY OTHER CARD..... oh [censored], what do you know, ive got another one" make sure your pause is at least 15 seconds while you squeeze your other card. im generally for a friendly game, but i cant stand trash talking assholes and people who randomly decide to not chop

Same. Umm, unless I'm playing $40 1-1 NL at Ocean's 11.

I rarely talk when at B&M because the conversations are realllllllllly boring and I never talk [censored], unless I can mumble it to a friend sitting next to me or something.

This is actually a terrible fold on your part. I'm not even sure it's debatable. You're getting *at least* 10:1 to call the turn bet, and therefore 11:2 to showdown. You have to be convinced beyond 80% certainty that he has QQ-AA or a set to lay this down.

This is a fold you could make in NL when your stack is at risk. But right now the most he can take from you is eight dollars. Call the turn bet and call the river. You have position! There's over $80 in the pot by the time he bets the turn blank. How you don't think you had odds to call down is beyond me.

I have to agree with private joker. Even if I thought the guy was so tight that he squeaks when he walks, in a limit game, you have to call that down unless the board gives you a major reason not to(i.e. overcard to the J, three or four cards to the flush or straight).

I could possibly see the fold in NL, but here, no way. I'd just look across the table and tell him that I'd see him at the river(given that one of the possibilities above doesn't show up).

I dont know why I did it, but I did. AKo in the BB. Dealer accidentally exposes an ace, so I decide not to raise preflop, and instead I take a free play. Flop gives me ace high, and grandma and I start going at it. Turn and river are blanks, we cap on the river. She turns up AQs, and I say, "Jeez, AQ, thats a nice hand." Dealer starts to push the pot, then I flip over big slick, slap my fist on the felt, shout "Ship it grandma!!" at the top of my voice, and watch her face for a reaction. I was just being a dick, but this old lady had sucked out on me heinously at some earlier hands.

a couple of years ago in a baseball summer league, I beaned a 54 year old man and a 14 year old boy in back to back games. Only the boy was intentional, but the old man was a fastball square in the chest (I'd been throwing him deuces all day and he didn't bail on an inside fastball).

This one time, I showed up at the Taj and there was a 78-year old woman sitting in my favorite seat, so I went up to her and said "Hi, how are you doing tonight?" Before she could answer, I shoved her to the floor and kicked her repeatedly in the stomach until she threw up. That'll teach her.

That's the influence of poker-related tv shows and movies. Young players think they are cool dressing like Phil Laak.

Also, turning over just one card is a move of choice. Of course the dealer then makes the kids look like dorks by saying something like "turn over the other card. And next time I'll move the pot to the other player of you do that again...).

70 year olds do not know how to use a computer. Thats why they have called me back in the tech support days asking what/where the "location bar" is? Why are most old men I have met in AC never really nice?

My former grandpa at 74 never used a computer, I worked the time as tech support, he kept asking me jokingly "I always see that .com on the TV. Where is that .com?"

I love the guys that turn up only 1 card.

1/2 no-limit at Foxwoods I got KK, and i'm betting it hard, an Ace hits the river, we're heads up and he checks, i turn up my kings, he turns the Ace over, puts a $1 tip on it, and then mucks the other card!

Dealer pushes the pot to me! And then (the best part in my mind)...drops the tip!

I don't think he'll ever do that again.

Kinda funny:

I got asked twice by casino security the other night to take the hood of my sweatshirt off my head.

When I went I wore a hooded sweatshirt because it was freaking cold the other night, and right when I walked in a security guard asked me to take the hood off, so I did. I took the sweatshirt off because it was really hot in the poker room, but then as we were leaving I put it back on but we stopped to play BJ for a little bit, and I put the hood back on.

About 5 minutes later somebody came by and told be to take it off again.

Busted!

Last night I held a home game, and one of the younger guys, who is a funny, depressive sort (think Eyeore from Winnie the Poo), was wearing his sweatshirt hood pulled fairly tight. When someone questionned him about it, he answered with seeming seriousness:

"It keeps my brain warm."
