After having taken ~2 months off from live play due to work/family obligations, I'll be returning to the boats (pronounced and written in plural even though there is only one) tonight. Any Chicagoland 2+2ers going tonight?

Not I...

Enjoy, and post up a report after your visit, even if it's nothing more than how the room has changed since the last time you were there.

Between my Oct and Dec visits, they delted and re-added the $200 NL game, added 6 or so tables, and changed the $5-10 to $6-12.

I had no idea. Interesting. Did they introduce $3 chips for the 6/12, or are they playing with red/white?

I'll be in a blue shirt with gray/black stripes for those that are interested in meeting up.

What is the reasoning for changing the 5/10 to 6/12? Is it so they can do Half-Kill games???

My impression was it was the same "full kill" to $10-20, just with higher starting stakes, for some reason.

Who knows, maybe this was a one-time thing that day, lol -- like I said, crazy changes between all my trips.

We shall see, when the trip report is posted /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Or when I call there tonight to put my name on the list. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ash, I probably will be playing at Trump tonight with some of my friends. I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm about 6'2" and blonde. All my friends are pretty tall and young (early 20's). My name is Doug.

Hey Im a Chicagoland player who has been itching for some live play ever since I went to Vegas over the summer. What games are spread at Trump. Are there any tourneys ?? I have really heard only bad things so your gonna have to entice me.

Well, Trump has the lowest limit of 3/6 with a full kill, I don't know what there highes limit is (unfortunately /images/graemlins/frown.gif) but I do know they also spread a no limit game that is something like a $200 buy in, I don't know for sure.

The biggest downside to me is the dirty chips, and that's easy to get past. The poker room is non smoking. You can call ahead up to an hour before hand to put your name on a list (888-218-7867) and they play there is nice and soft.

Harrah's also has a poker room and I heard that they just redid it and it's nice. They're limits start at 5/10 and I don't know if they have any no limit.

PS - I've had a great time every time I've gone to Trump, even when if I lost.

Let see...

No I have not played the NLH game before, I'm a limit guy. I don't know what the blinds are. I've heard the game isn't tough though, but I don't even know the people that I heard that from (it was on this site). I don't think there is an entry fee, and I the rake is taken by a time charge, again I don't know how much it is, sorry.

For comps, no they don't comp you drinks, none of the casinos around here do, but they do have free pop, you go there are fountains set up throughout the casino.

You can get a players card (which is free) and you earn .50 or a dollar for every hour you play and use that to earn money for comps. You get a $10 comp at the deli when you sign up for the card, but you need to ask for it.

I've been there recently. I thought I overheard the NL game is now 100-400 buy in, 2 5 blinds. The regulars were also talking to one of the dealers who said new chips are on order!

I might go tonight. casinogosain and namknils, what do you guys play?

Edit: and Zaxx, what bad things did you hear?

As I said, I'll be there tonight in a blue shirt, with a black and gray strip across the chest (unless my kid spills on me prior to then, in which case I'll change).

I'll be playing either 10/20 or NL, depending on what is available when I get there (estimate 9-10pm). I'll play lower if needed.

The NL game was a 5/10-blinds, $400-min/no-max game last time I was there. They also used to have a $2/5-blinds, $200 max (maybe 300?) that they stopped for a while - and sounds like they have re-started.

All of the limit games are raked. The NL game is a time charge - I believe it is $6/half-hour, though I could be off by 1-2 dollars.

All of the games are fairly soft - especially when I am sitting.

Harrah's has renovated their room - and it is much nicer, but still not as nice as Trump. Harrah's has 5/10-20/40 regularly, with 30/60 sometimes, NL sometimes, PLO almost always.

Trump has 3/6, 5/10 (6/12?), 10/20, NL, 1-5 stud.

And I agree, the chips are filthy. There have been new $5 chips for a while, but they get stuck between the old, grimy ones. The white (gray) chips are nasty. You can usually stick 10-15 together at a time.

Just bad things about the staff,,,chips,,,and the way they take the rake(this is a serious issue for a tight player like me who likes to sit for 6 hour seesions). I dont know just various things ive seen on internet boards.. The only rooms Ive played B&M games in were Mandalay Bay, Bellagio Binions, The Mirage, and Luxor. Other than Luxor (which was a complete hole) I think Trump is gonna be way nastier than those, which is understandable considering this isnt Las Vegas.

The room is actually very nice - and is the only poker room I've been in with windows. The floor are all pretty nice. I have no complaints about the place except for the dirty chips.

Well I went. I got sat down at a random table for some 3/6. I noticed the guy next to me was tall and blonde like Doug had said he was. I eventually looked at his trump card and saw his name was doug. I turn and say, are you Doug from 2+2? He laughed and sure enough it was. I think I may have seen ash at a table next to the cage, but I'm not sure. Doug introduced me to someone named Wacky from the forums.

Here's how the night went. I sit down and post in the CO to find AA. I hate getting KK and AA before you get a feel for the table. Well I bet most of the way to get sucked out by 2 people with unlikely two pairs. The next 3 hours I didn't win one pot. I finally take a shitty little pot down and leave a half hour later. It was good meeting Doug but I wished I satyed home. My cold streak continues /images/graemlins/frown.gif

trump is a nicer room, but the competition at harrahs is much worse. the 10/20 with 1/2 kill is a complete joke.

It was nice meeting you too Jay. I didn't realize you had aces right away, sucks you got drawn out on. The highest pair that I saw all night was 5's and I don't think I went past the flop with those. I never got AK, AQ or anything, my higest Ax hand was A9. It took me an hour and a half until I hit the flop with top pair (Kings) with KJs in my hand, I bet out and everyone folded, that was the only pot I won all night.

It was a fun time though, I played really tight so I didn't lose too much.

I looked for Ash, but the place was pretty full and I didn't see him.
