When you flop a set , you are supposed to fold it because someone may have a gutshot draw.

Party Poker Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind t800 (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

SB (t4751)

CO (t11529)
Button (t29544)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif.

UTG bets, Hero calls, Button folds.

Final Pot: 13 BB (t20800)

According to the table, I'm an idiot for betting my set to the river.

The exchange of words between him and I went something like this.

me: wtf
him: well, I certainly can't complain about that
me: I know cuz you are a moron
him: I'll send you a postcard from the cruise
me: you won't make it
him: we shall see which one of us makes it
me: you suck my BLEEP dude..you are still a moron

I put him on my buddy list. Unfortunately, he checked the "don't find me on search" button. This hand made me mad because I was on fire and that hand would have probably given me the cruise. It would have given me top 10 in chips.

oh yeah the summary

** Summary **
Main Pot: 20800
Board: [ Kd Qh 4c 2s Td ]

UTG balance 29304, bet 6400, collected 20800, net +14400 [ Jd Ah ] [ a straight, ten to ace -- Ah,Kd,Qh,Jd,Td ]
Hero balance 9780, lost 6400 [ Qd Qs ] [ three of a kind, queens -- Kd,Qd,Qs,Qh,Td ]

Maybe I should give limit another try because I was tearing it up which usually doesn't happen when I play limit.

I think I would have probably protected my set and pushed on the flop, but that's just how I would play it.

The original post is in the wrong forum, this hand is from a limit tournament.

UTG is getting 12:1 on calling your 3-bet preflop. 15:1 calling your flop bet. 10:1 calling your turn bet. He closes the action every time. Assuming he can get at least one bet out of either you or the button on the river he has odds for the turn call, and the other calls are clearly correct. Even if he was only getting, say, 8:1 on his 10:1 draw it could be argued that the extra chips would be worth the slightly -EV play.

Sucks, huh? You might enjoy no-limit instead.

edit - I'll admit I'm amazed that people are saying you played poorly by betting when you did. I'd be hard-pressed not to raise the river and call a 3-bet even though it'd hurt the chances of the button overcalling.

Bummer on the tourney result, good luck in the rest of 'em.

You would have just gotten bad beated on the cruise anyway.

I think you still have the wrong attitude towards poker.

1. Why do you start acting like a *****?

2. Why do you include the conversation? I'd be embarrassed.

Maybe you should be playing other games instead of poker if you have a desire to use abusive language.

We really need to find you a new pill.

1) Don't shout at bad players.

2) Especially don't shout at pretty much reasonable players, as this guy was.

3) Don't play limit tournaments.

4) If you're going to whine, save it for a genuine bad beat rather than a hand where the villain had semi-decent calling odds all the way down.
