My HD widscreen TV

hello around 4 months ago i got a samsung HD DLP Tv. I like this TV alot. This is my first big screen TV and my first wide screen so i dont really know how these things work. When i am watching a DVD there are still black lines on top and bottom of the picture. I got a Wide screen to prevent this. The only way i can get rid of these black lines is if i put the picture into zoom 2, and then i am not sure if i am cutting anything else off. Are the black lines normal?

Movies are generally filmed in either 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratios.

Widescreen tvs are 16:9 (1.78:1).

Since I don't personally own a widescreen tv I don't know for sure, but 1.85:1 movies should not have much in the way of black bars... 2.35:1 movies will have the black bars but they won't be as bad as they would on regular TVs.
