Five star yellow chicken curry at a local thai place. Actually, they have this soup that's hotter, but i stay away from that stuff.

Habaņero paste.
For what it's worth, truly spicy food isn't nearly as hot on the way in as it is on the way out.

And that's why I don't eat it even tho I like it.

stuffed habanero peppers. Each one stuffed with the seeds of 1 pepper, so pretty painful.
(I've also tried Dave's Insanity sauce, but I'm not sure that counts as "food".)

Yea. It's funny I never had this problem when I was younger. But the older I get, the worse it gets. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I disagree, since I've used it in chile (2 drops in a half gallon pot) but the hottest thing I've ever eaten I don't know the actual name for.
We called them chile beans. Holy hell. Satan himself would request some ice cream to sooth his ravaged ass. Hot.

So what is the chemical reaction is Spicy food that simulates hotness? Obviously there is no temperature change involved, so is it an acid eating away at your gums or what? I do know it makes my Dad sweat whenever he eats vindaloo. Personally I stick to mild buffalo wings, when the pain overrides the flavor, it's not worth it.

The chemical in spicy food stimulates your pain receptors. Nothing is being burned. Your body releases endorphins to relieve the pain you are feeling. This is why you get a slight rush.

I was in a hot pepper eating contest last May where I went 5 rounds over approximately 15 minutes:
1. 1 Habanero.
2. 2 Thai Chilies.
3. 3 Habaneros.
4. 4 Thai Chilies.
5. 5 Habaneros.
At the end, I was numb from the waist up and high as a kite from all the endorphins. Using conservative estimates, these peppers combined represent some 2.4 million Scoville units of "heat."
P.S. I won and took the top prize of a $150 gift certificate to the restaurant that put on the contest (a Mexican place near where I go to school).
