Didn't work...

I had seen UTG raises take the blinds, though.

I had 55, and after 27-37 hands, here's what the table looked like (working from my left).

TA-N, TP-P, TA-P x4, TA-A, an unknown, and a sLA-P.

Pretty bad table selection, I admit.

Is this kind of move suicide?

Just curious.

way too many opponents ahead of you.

You can pretty much read the subject of your post and know it's not a good plan.

Bad table selection, yes. Bad raise, yes. While you may well steal the blinds, the times you don't you're likely to be getting into icky situations at best, or drasticaly behind.

Fair enough.

Makes sense. I'd figured as much (which was why the post was short). /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, both of you,
Dave.

I will note that this table was able to play a BLISTERING 80 hands an hour though.

the players on your left matter a lot less than the players on your right in terms of whether a table sucks.

I assume you mean that you don't want TAG players on your right? You end up getting raised out of so many pots whereas with a tighter player to your left, he's laying down rather than raising...

Because I don't want to get stuck in between their bet and the field?

Here's one example:

Let's say hand X is never worth a raise but is always profitable in any position against 4 opponents.

You are in MP2 with hand X with 2 different lineups, the % indicate looseness, assume no raising:

Lineup A, starting UTG:
Bob (20%)
Joe (20%)
Morris (20%)
HERO
Cletus (40%)
Gary (40%)
Alison (40%)
Random SB
Random BB

Lineup B:
Cletus (40%)
Gary (40%)
Alison (40%)
HERO
Bob (20%)
Joe (20%)
Morris (20%)
Random SB
Random BB

With lineup B, every time you act, you'll be much more certain whether you'll have enough players to make your hand profitable.
