I play 30+3 Sng at Party. Multitabling four at a time and average return of about 22% after app 450 tournaments ($7.25 pr tournament).

Recently I have tried my luck at the 50+5 but I don't have great success. I have played about 70 tournaments, and I average only about 9% (app 5 USD pr tournament).

My question is: is the $50 tournaments that much harder than the $30 or is it more likely that i have been a litle bit unlucky?

I know my sample size is very small for the $50 tournaments.

The $50s are harder than the $30s, but are definitely beatable. One main problem is probably that you haven't adjusted your strategy to accomadate for the skill increase and stack size increase.

I had a similar experience to you and I'm playing 30s still as I felt the 50s were more variance for nearly the same return. I also found that I had trouble playing more than 4 tables at $50, where I can play 6-8 at $30.

I would like to one day make my way up to $100 and $200, but until I have more money to risk, I'm gonna stick with whats safe.

Probably both, but keep in mind there are adjustments you must make at the $50's because of the increased starting chips.

Could you elaborate on adjustments? I'd like to know. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

At the very least, you have implied odds to play a lot of speculative hands since they're a smaller percentage of your stack and everyone else has more chips behind.

As a basic example, CC'ing a minraise with 55 in level 2 is very marginal in the 30's but pretty much OK in the 50's.

I don't like this. There is too much talk of 2+2er's coming to the $55s. Stay away from my fishing hole! Unless you suck. Then sit to my left if you like folding.
