I need a good free picture editor

I'm now in day 1287 of my 21-day evaluation period for LView-Pro, the only picture editor I have on my computer, and I don't feel like paying for it. It currently has this agonizingly long pop-up frame that comes up when you load it up, politely reminding me of the fact that I'm on day 1287 of my 21-day evaluation period, and it takes several minutes to go away and let me use the program. How inconsiderate.

Anyhow, is there a decent free editor out there anyone would recommend? When I have some money I'll pay for things like this, but for now...

when you have money, if you can get by the moral disobedience of it, pirate adobe photoshop from morpheus or any other p2p app. i believe it is not even illegal unless you use it for something commercial.
