View Full Version : 23 Beers in 23 Hours for $500K???????

In the current issue of Playboy there's an article on David Williams. At one point in the article he talks about the bets players make w/each other(Ivey-Greenstein's flop bets, Hennigan's 30 days in Omaha, Howard & the cheeseburger, etc).

And then there's the subject line.

I read this aloud at a two table home game, and as one, everyone there sang out "I'll back you!"

Anyway, anybody got the inside scoop on this one? Was DW making it up to fvck wit the reporter 'cause he & his friends had just done it(my guess)? If real, is the guy offered it lifetime sober, only got one kidney, or weigh 93 lbs? Are the beers in question liter bottles of some mega-malt liquors like EKU or Carlsberg Elephants? Gotta be some catch because 23/23 just isn't that hard. Now, 48 in 24 would be a challenge.

Anyway, if legit, I'm in.

BTW, DW's girlfriend looks like a super-hottie but sounds like a complete nutcase.

that would be so easy. I am pretty sure I had 20+ in 10 hours on the 31st.

I could do 48, and I'm 5' 9" 160 and not a great drinker (though I do it often.) Alot of people could do 48 in 24.

I figure.. on weekend nights I drink from 10-20 beers (depending on alot of factors.) Start the 24 hours, drink 24, pass out for awhile, and drink the second 24.. I guess the real concern is getting too sick to drink.

doing 48 in a day is harder than it sounds, you run out of stomach room eventually. that said, for 550k, these problems can be solved.

This is easy... I set a goal for myself on my 22nd birthday to drink 22 drinks at 22 different bars. Some were shots, some beer, some mixed drinks but close to the same idea. I ended up finishing in about 11 hours, so a new bar every half hour, drink, and repeat.

It was so fun I tried again on my 23rd, for 23 drinks. I ended up with about 27 in 11.5 hours before being booted from the last bar. I still left under my own power and got laid. Happy birthday to me...

Someone ignorant to how much a habitual drinker can put down may have offered this bet, but anyone with experience would know this is easy.

My record for a single sitting is 56. Probably over a period of 18 hours give or take. 48 in 24 hours would be a joke for any remotely seasoned drinker.

Just like everyone else said, this is a joke.

Normal binge drinkers comsume a 12 pack in an hour or so.

Maybe it was a sucker bet and it was 64 ounce bumpers the guy had to drink. (Or at least 40's. Do they still make the 64 ouncers?)

On a side note, I saw on the CNN scrolling headlines yesterday that a man blew a .9 somewhere. He somehow survived.

I think the hardest part for me to do that would be staying up for 23 hours. LOL

If I get to pick the beer, there's no way he'd (or anybody else) would win it. Nothing like a bottle of Avery Beast (18%/vol in a 22oz bottle) to get you feeling nice & warm.

Why stay up? I would drink 12 in about 6 hours, sleep it off (8 hrs if need be), wake up and eat a lot of greasy food, then drink another 11. It would still only take about 20 hours max.

My roommate can drink a case of budweiser in about 6 hours and still beat most non 2+2'ers at NL. Before the Filipino came along, it used to happen every Thursday.

didn't they mention on espn ted forrest won a bet drinking a 6 pack in 30 mins. At first it doesn't sound that tough but a beer every 5 mins would be pretty hard around 5 and 6.

That's still nothing for a seasoned drinker. If you've ever done a "Case Race" you usually do it with a team of 2 to 4 people. Obviously with 4 people it's 6 each, and the "race" is usually over within 10 minutes, sometimes a lot faster.

Case races with teams? I've never heard of those. The only drinking races I've ever heard of with teams was keg races. Interesting.....

only way this is at all a challenge is if you can not pee or pass out. And change it to 48 beers

When you refer to a 'beer' how much are you talking about in ml or pints? 330ml? 568ml(1 pint)? A converter program I found gives 1 pint(UK) = 19.2oz (US) [I never realised we had different measures for what pints, and ounces were]

ThaSaltCracka
01-06-2005, 12:11 PM
what are ML?

anyways, 12 oz. equals 1 beer.

Almost half of the male population of Princeton University drinks 24 beers in 24 hours on "Newman's Day" in April. It's actually more like 24 beers in 12 hours since you can't go to sleep from the time you start to the time you finish, plus you have to go to every class while drinking. You see so many nalgenes and coffee cups full of beer.

I finished at 8:30 PM after starting at 7 AM and chugging three beers in the shower.

Goddamn I miss college.

ml or pints? i'd guess most are probably referring to a can/bottle.

Pompey

But it seems we're used to different size standards of cans/bottles, so it was hard to make sense of 24 or 40 beers in 24 hours. 1 beer = 12oz was what I needed to know.

I guess the best I've managed was on boxing day a few years ago when it was something like 16 pints in 8/9 hours which translates as about '25 beers'

I will take that bet if they will just pay for the beer!

Here is a REAL challenge and most will fail HORRIBLY in about 1 1/2 hours.

POWER HOUR! Here is the challenge:

1oz or 1 shot glass they are one in the same. Every 60 seconds take one shot of beer. THATS IT.

Sounds easy right LOL! try it!

Four things will happen:
1) you will puke your brains out in just over an hour!
2) you will be so snotted you will not be able to function.
3) you will pass out!
4) all of the above.

I have made it to 2 hours however it was VERY ugly and much of the night after that is very blurry.

SO I CHALLENGE YOU TO A POWER HOUR!

Good Times /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A shot is actually 1.5oz, but the challenge I think still has essentially the same result.

This sounds very easy but it is acutally extremely difficult. You can nail your buddies with this one.
Think about it for a second. Your going to dink 1 oz. or as Patrick del Poker Grande metioned 1.5oz is is probally correct.

1 can of beer = 12oz.

1 shot (1.5oz) of beer every 60 sec = 1.25 cans of beer every 10 mins (7.5 cans and hour)

How long do you really think you can hold up?
How long will your body allow you to continue this?

1 shot per min will set in intoxication alot faster then you would belive. Alcohol is absorded through the mouth. when you chugg a beer it pass through the mouth very quickly. Drinking a shot per minute passes it very slowly.Hence having a cocktail through a straw will hit you a little harder the drinking it straight up, I sure you have heard that before.

Here try this doing at work or home drink a shot(1.5oz) of water every 60 secs. and get back to me in 45 mins and tell me how full you are. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Just dont puke on me.
