View Full Version : This is how lame the Seahawks are

Check this (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/football/206643_ticketsales05ww.html). They need a fricken extension from the NFL to sell out their playoff game, so it isn't a local blackout. This town has no confidence in them, for good reason, so no one wants to spend the cash.

I don't blame them.

its so expensive though. I wouldn't pay that price for any game other than the Super Bowl or a game 7 in any other series. Absurd prices for a 1st round game.

It is also gonna be colder than hell, with a chance of snow. The way this town panics and shuts down when a solitary snowflake is spotted, it doesn't surprise me. I just hope it doesn't snow Friday night and [censored] up my hockey tickets!

Oh, and the Seahawks being totally unpredictable and generally crappy thing holds some water too /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw this earlier today and almost crapped my pants... if the Hawks first home playoff game in 20 years isn't on TV cause it can't sell out I'm going to cry.

I'm going to laugh. They should have just had it in st lou anyway. Having it here is just a home game for st lou that we can't watch on tv unless it sells out.

The Hawks had a home playoff game a few years ago, when the great Dan Marino came to town and beat them. (Then, of course, the Dolphins lost the next week to Jacksonville 63-7, but it was nice to see Marino play in person).

What bullshit. Seattle is in the easiest division in the NFL and they can only go 8-8. The Bills beat them handily and yet Seattle is in the playoffs and the Bills are not.

The Bills could beat Seattle, Minnesota, Green Bay, and probably Atlanta as well. Yet all those teams are in the playoffs and the Bills are not.

The wild-cards at least need to be league wide instead of conference wide.

Minnesota lost 7 of their last 10 for christ's sake. And they still got a wildcard.

What bullshit.

Maybe you should tell the Bills about the criteria for getting into the playoffs.

What do you mean?

I know they should have beaten the Steelers. But they still finished 9-7 and are not in, while two teams with 8-8 records in the NFC are. Up till the last week, it was possible that a 7-9 NFC team could get in.

Having a team with a losing record get into the playoffs is just wrong.

It is not the Bills fault that they play in the toughest division in football.

Jman28
01-06-2005, 08:04 AM
What I mean is, if you want the Bills in the playoffs, they have to either win their division, or be one of the two teams in their conference that did not win their division but have the next best records (and tiebreakers).

It's as simple as that. It's an entirely objective system that everyone knows about at the beginning of the season. So I really don't think it's unfair.

That's all I was saying. Do you have a proposal for a better system?

I do. Keep the 6 divisions as is but get rid of the Conference labels. Then seed all the teams by record and let em go at it.

The NFC in general is weak as hell. The Bills could beat every team in the NFC save for Philly.

I meant they could conceivably go 8-8 and still win their division, haha.

Meanwhile the Bills with a record of 9-7 and third in their division.

There are no other third ranked division teams that are 9-7 this year. Lot of 6-10's.

The NFC North is nowhere near as weak as tbe West.

The West has two god awful teams in San Fran and Arizona, and St Louis and Seattle are merely average.

Green Bay is a very decent team.

ThaSaltCracka
01-06-2005, 02:42 PM
- Green Bay won one more game than SEA.
-The NFC East has one team that is 13-3 and three teams that are 6-10.

when I look at each division in the NFC, every single one looks like it sucks, with the south being the best of all 4.

NFC North:

NFC West
Team W L T PCT PF PA Home Road AFC NFC DIV Streak
y-Seattle 9 7 0 .562 371 373 5-3 4-4 1-3 8-4 3-3 Won 2

Arizona 6 10 0 .375 284 322 5-3 1-7 1-3 5-7 2-4 Won 1
San Francisco 2 14 0 .125 259 452 1-7 1-7 0-4 2-10 2-4 Lost 3

Ok. Let's compare these two now.

Green Bay is clearly the best team of the 8. Minnesota is second best.

Detroit and Chicago are pretty bad, but Detroit is better than Arizona, and the Bears are better than the 49ers.

I would do something similar:

Keep the 8 divisions AND the conference labels. Everything stays the same, except the wild cards are open to both conferences (4 teams).

If there are, say, 3 teams from the AFC as wildcards, the lowest seed goes over to the NFC bracket.

Thus, this year the Jaguars would be playing at Seattle; the Ravens would be at Green Bay. Everything else would stay the same. (If this system was in place, Jax would be 3rd rated Wild Card, Ravens 4th; both at 9-7. Bills out by losing tiebreakers. Minn. and Stl. out by having 8-8 records.

Minnesota is second best? The Seahawks beat the damn Vikings, or do you forget that.

This should be the correct order
GB
SEA
STL
MINN
ARZ
DET
CHI
SF

Just for the record, I want you to state again that the Vikings are better than both SEA and STL, because 90% of the people on here think the Vikings are the worst team in the playoffs.

Short answer, per Mitch Levy in the morning.

This happens to every city in this situation, with an early Saturday playoff game. It's not notable and there's no way the game is blacked out. It's just a stupid NFL rule with stupid timing.

I think this is a good idea. I'm also gald to see that no one had proposed expanding the playoffs to 14 teams. (I think this would be terrible, but I think the NFL may do it soon.)

Seattle is one of the worst in the playoffs. The Bills beat them and they are not in.

No justice. The Bills are the best team not in the playoffs, no question about it. They're also better than Seattle, St. Louis, Green Bay, and Minnesota.

And I know the Bills are better than Seattle and St. Louis because the Bills beat Seattle 38-9, and St. Louis 37-17. The Bills would likely beat the Vikings by a similar margin and Green Bay by about 10.

Bills are in the toughest division.

TSC can proclaim all he wants that Seattle is an awesome team, but it's still BS.

The wild card picks need to be league wide, and maybe change the divisions around a bit too. Seattle got to play easy teams like Arizona and San Francisco a lot more than the Bills did.
