I'm sick of seeing pointless polls and meaningless threads. So I've decided to create a relevant poll that I think we can all relate to. The question is, what percent of the time must something happen for us to be "surprised" that it doesn't happen. We can also do this for "shocked".

What I mean is. If something happens 50% of the time, and it doesn't happen, we aren't necessarily "surprised" and we certainly aren't "shocked". At 99% though, it's a different story. Now take this seriously, it's important.

The divisions for "shocked" are terrible. Of course all the answers are 90-100%. It should be like 90-92, 92-94, 94-96 etc.

i agree, i put 90-100 for both...

i think somewhere around 90 for surprised and somewhere around 95 for shocked...

Well, normally it's probably about 90% to be "shocked", except when I'm playing poker, in which case it only takes my 60% favorite getting cracked and then I'm "outraged". /images/graemlins/grin.gif

If there is a non zero probability something can happen, I am never shocked when it does. (I don't even think I'd say I was surprised, since I knew it could happen.) It's the things I fail to consider that surprise or shock me (like when I flip to Adult Swim and something new is on because they switched the line up. This no longer really surprises me since they change their line up constantly now.)
