What's that Strokes song I'm thinking of? I don't know them at all, but I wanna download this song. Any ideas?

Just walk away, man... just walk away.

Reptilia

*edit - they all sound the same, though. I deleted every song except Reptilia and 12:51

Uh. 12:51, Last Night, The End Has No End, Under Control

I used to be like you. Then I heard one song in a bar, asked who it was, and now I'm trying to find it.

What kind of music does the bar play?

If the bar plays the radio-friendly mainstream songs, it's either Reptilia or 12:51, I gotta believe.

I feel like the answer would be one of the first 5 songs mentioned as I'd heard the song before. It's NOT Reptilia, Last Night or Someday.

I'll keep you guys posted...

Hard to Explain is another off the first. How about downloading both albums and just listening to them?

You want a track listing? Here...

12:51
Automatic Stop
You talk way too much
Whatever Happened?
Reptilia
Between Love and Hate
Meet me in the bathroom
Under control
The end has no end
The way it is
I can't win

Heh, thanks...I'm on allmusic getting some single names.

I have a feeling it's 12:51, but I can't find a version of that....I'll keep at it.

1. Ok btiches, I'm gonna play my next $10 NL sng in like 10 minutes, so you guys can try and get a piece if you want.

2. I'm starting to wonder if it's not a Strokes song.

It's not 12:51, Last Night, The End is the end, Some Day, Reptilia, or The Way it Is.

Much of the song is just a simple bass beat repeated over and over again with may be a little drums, and the guy's voice over it sounds very purposefully digitally altered.

Ok it wasn't "Hard to Explain" or any other listed previously. I'm gonna call my friend and hope he remembers. Meanwhile, I'm playing an SNG right about now, I'll post the table as soon as i see it. If anyone happens to sit or whatever, cool.

The song was good. Period. Unfortunately/Fortunately I no longer think it's a Strokes song, and may never find it.

Take It Or Leave It.

This is the best Strokes song, and therefore the song you are searching for. Do not be deterred by the fact that most people have not seen the light. You're welcome.

I sincerely apologize to everyone who tried to help me, as I was misnformed. My friend told me the name of the song "Seven Nation Army." He told me it was The Strokes, but he got that part wrong. It's The White Stripes.

Anyway, the song is good and I'm rocking it and missing flops as we speak.

Tosh

You said it was all bass, The White Stripes don't have a bassist.

BottlesOf
01-03-2005, 11:17 PM
Well d/l the song and tell me what instrument is making that beat. (The first notes of the song--before the bass drum comes in.)

Yeah thats bass, they don't have a bassist though. Just 2 of them, so I guess a random plays bass for that.

EDIT: Actually I think its an effect used and played off the guitar's A string, I don't know enough about that to know though.

IndieMatty

I believe it is the effect on the pedal.

Okay, good. This is much better. Congrats on your newly found rocking out. I'm still not sure how one would think it's The Strokes, though.

I think they did bring in a bassist for that. That was the big thing about the new album, oh noooos, bass. That kind of stuff.

Its all done with a regular guitar and effects pedals. When the new album came out they were booked on Conan for the entire week, so I downloaded the videos from those shows. With that one guitar and some effects pedals the live version sounds almost exactly like the album version. I say there is no bass on the album. What they may have done was 2 guitar tracks, 1 straight lead guitar, and the other with the effects pedals. Then again what do I know. But as far as the live videos go, its just effects pedals.
