I agree with all of this. It can be done for under $150 though if you shop around, especially for the fabric. The most recent fabric I'm going to use for a friend's table is some sort of nylon/poly mix that's lightning slick, and was $3 for 3 yards at WalMart. Casino felt? No, but certainly playable and a nice way to save money.

I've done 100% poly fabrics for the other two I made, and they both worked great.

Man, I have no clue. I bought it on clearance, but I don't have the cardboard thing that lists the name. Mostly I bought it for the color, since my friend who I'm making the table for wants a gunmetal gray fabric (which was tough to find).

It's a slightly metallic looking fabric, and a very tight, tight, "knit", but I don't know how else to describe it. If I can't get a vinyl logo put on it like I want, then I'm going to have to find something else anyway.
