Cross Country Trip. Anything I should see Louisiana --> San Diego

I'm making a cross country trip to San Diego very soon. Is there anything I should go see on the way there?

Going from Dallas to El Paso, to Phoenix to San Diego.

What should my friend and I do when in San Diego?
