What is the optimal blind posting strategy when you first sit down at a table? /images/graemlins/blush.gif (just let me know if the answer is obvious /images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Is it

1) Wait to post BB (and then SB), this way, 10 hands is costing you 0.15SB each

2) Post after the button passes you in the CO, this way, 7 hands is costing you ~ 0.1429SB each?

Posting in CO seems to save you 0.0071SB for the first 7 hands, but you lose the chance of being on the button? Which one is more advantageous?

Is it posting in CO since you save 0.0071SB per session, so lets say you play 100 hands per session, you're improving your BB/100 rate by 0.0035BB?

If you're not in late position, just wait until the big blind comes around- otherwise post. It's as simple as that

I usually post in the BB or CO only. I don't mind the CO, the per hand is about the same, but you get to play crap with position if there is no raise so it is actually better.

I usually only post in the BB or CO unless I'm at a great table and want in on the action faster.

And I'm pretty sure having the button is way more important than saving 0.0071SB

you are all wrong!

the correct answer is: who cares.

CO or BB is fine. ill post in MP3 occasionally as well.

in passive games, i'd probably argue that the BB post is more valuable than the CO post. however the CO post is far more valuable than missing 6-7 hands while waiting for the BB.

the CO post is more valuable than the BB post in aggressive games.

I post anyhwhere except UTG and UTG+1. I'm impatient and think it matters very little.

I agree. It matters very little. We're talking about 1 SB over 100+ hands (or however many hands you play that session).

those first 7 hands are 7 hands you wouldnt have played anyway, so you're not "missing a button." you're paying less than market value to see 7 hands, with the caveat that none of them come from the SB, BB, or Button. I always post from the CO in a 10 handed game if given the opportunity.

but the correct answer, especially live, is it dont matter.
