View Full Version : Another year, another "wait until the turn?" hand

Table is mostly loose and mostly passive--limping with 99 in EP felt right.

UTG in this hand is loose and pretty aggressive preflop (70% VPIP, 16% PFR) but pretty straightforward and not terribly aggressive postflop (PFAF 1.4).

Note that my flop/turn play was planned out, but feel free to disagree with my play on any street.

Raise pre-flop to isolate??? Very unlike you to limp 9s like this....

I'd raise the flop as well. Given you didn't, I like your play on the turn. Ditto on the river. Fold to a raise, yes?

Yea, I like waiting until the turn. How about a preflop raise too?

Pots not big, raise the flop.

No, you've got the bet where you want it, and the pot is small. You've also got a crub which helps a bit.

Gotta raise this preflop. Given that you didn't, raise the flop.

Nice to see the consensus is I've botched this hand--and so early in the year.

Many more to come in 2K5, I'm sure!

I like raising preflop and coming out hard on this flop. There are a lot of hands that you really want to fold that will hand around for only one bet but maybe not two. You got a nice turn card, which probably killed some of your opponents outs. I like playing it a bit more aggressivly.

You did this with your jack's hand, that I posted. I hated it there, because there was an obvious open ended straight on the board. Here I guess it's cool, but I'd be more worried about getting hands like a4, a5 out and God knows what other over cards people would call with out there.

Why didn't you raise pre-flop?

I wonder if UTG is slowplaying 33 for a little turnabout action for all the times you've hit quads.... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You drag it?

A 70/16 limp UTG is screaming and begging to be punished and 99 is well more than enough of a hand to make his fanny hurt.

yeah, definitely. there's just no reason at all to call the flop. you're offering them like 3-1 on a call

Maybe it's just me, but I sure like getting my money in with the best of it. I'm raising this flop.
