Fantastic performance by Sean Penn, who is on-screen pratically the entire movie. Movie is interesting, though going over old ground. But Penn is astounding. Far and away the stand-out performance of the year.

I have seen a lot of movies the past two weeks. No poker. I like being a critic. Of both poker and movies.

I also went to see the Einstein exhibit at the Skirball last week and when I was leaving saw one of the regular 40-80 players from Commerce. As he came over to say hello he yelled out "Deal 'em!"

I was listening to NPR (I'm a staunch liberal after all) this evening and a reviewer was saying that Sean Penn should be nominated for a Oscar for his performance. Was it really that Good?

They also mentioned another movie about a carpenter and some other actor, who's name escapes me at the moment, as also giving an above board performance.

It was astoundingly good. There were shades of De Niro, but I think Penn is a better actor (oh, heresy!).

I just saw "Mystic River" last week. I also saw a lot of DeNiro in Penn.
