Poor Granny, she ran into a set of kings.

On that note, I've already seen one Granny Mae gone to showdown. It lost to a straight /images/graemlins/grin.gif

i find people are playing looser because for one it's probably got a bunch of people that play bigger than $10+1 games. and secondly people are just happy with donating and don't really care if they win or lose.

some guy just lost a bigger than average stack to a 1-outer on the river. they both flopped sets, all the money went in on the turn, and the lower set made quads on the river. poor guy.

I'm out in 123rd!!!

I raise to 600 with ATo. Get called by "Slo Pok" on the button. Flop is 6AK. I bet 750. She goes all-in and has me covered. I ponder and call. She has JT.

Pot is 18k, makes me chip leader if I win.

Turn is a Q. Classic.

Oh well, GL all!

i made a foolish play and lost alot of chips. i'm on the button and the two blinds are sitting out. 75/150 - UTG raises to 450, it's folded to me with T4s. I decide to be a fool and think UTG is trying to steal the free blinds so I pop it up to 1200. He calls and the flop comes out 245 with one of my suits. I have a pair and back door flush. UTG goes all-in for about half my stack. I think and call. UTG shows 67 and hits a 3 for the straight.

i can't really complain because i risked alot of chips on a piss poor steal attempt. i can only wonder what might have been. i got 2,240 now so I'm still fighting.

well i ended up 27th, which was the last place to pay money. i won $8.58 and $8.58 was transferred to the relief effort. so i guess i actually lost about $2 on the tournament but it's a good cause.

i eventually went out calling an all-in from another shortstack in the CO with AQ. he just had me covered and had KK. still trying to decide if i should have called there. i probably didn't need to.

The amazing ZOO Tsunami Relief effort is proud to report the following results:

We had a total of 53 posters (WOW) who pooled funds that are separate from the funds derived from the Zoo Tsunami Relief Tournament.

If I missed your name, please send me a PM. I think I got everyone listed, but with all the people involved, I might have missed a transposition. Also, I had $30 extra somehow, so I am certain at least one person was overlooked. The $30 is in the kitty, but I sure would love to recognize who donated it. All funds were kept separate so your donation is in the total, but I don’t want to miss posting your name as well.

Donations ranged from $10-$1,000. Several of these private donations were matched by Stars.

In addition to matching some of these funds, Stars matched 100% of the tournament proceeds.

Here are some honorable mentions of some folks that dug real deep and contributed $100 or more. This list, in no way, should detract from the folks that were not singled out. The disaster victims need every dime they can get, and there are people on the top list who made donations to the limits they could afford, and therefore should be as proud of themselves as those mentioned below. Also, several of you made a smaller contribution because you wanted to support the tournament, but had already done something on your own. I thank you for that gesture.

I’d like to thank adde for getting the ball rolling and starting the donation fever. I’d like to thank Lee Jones for kicking in $500 from his pocket (not from stars, this was a gift for the Zoo Fund), and I would like to thank Spamuell for his AMAZING $340 donation.

I’d also like to thank Greg for planting the idea for this with his whore challenge, and I am told there have been significant donations made through that. Finally, thanks to AwesomeAli and the others that cross posted this tournament all over the web and to doc savage for emailing his database.

The net donation from the above contributions was a grand total of $4,948.29

Of this $4,948.29,
$1,200.00 went to “Doctors Without Borders”
$3,748.29 went to ICRC “International Committee of the Red Cross”

But we are not done!

Here are the proceeds derived from the tourney itself. 100% of these proceeds were doubled by Poker Stars, and this amount was also sent to the ICRC.

245 players registered for a total prize pool of $2,450 plus $245 that stars is kicking back for the entry fee (and doubling it). 245 players on a password protected, private tournament is awesome.

Here is the order of finish, and the corresponding donation. If the donation amount is more than half of what the spot paid, it represents the player donating more than the requirement (THANKS). I know that most of you did private donations on your own as well.

However, I am sorry to say that the people who have no figure by their name did not transfer me anything. This may be due to conflicting instructions, they may have done a direct transfer, or they forgot. I’m going to have faith and say they took care of it on their own, but I can’t include their owed money in our total. If you are a 2+2 poster and you don’t see your transfer, I encourage you to post here that you got it taken care of. At this point, if you forgot, please transfer to Stars directly.

The conflicting instructions was beyond my control. I tried to do what I was told, but there were several messages that kept changing the procedure. In NO WAY am I suggesting that the players with no figure by their name did not pay. I apologize for this frustrating snafu at the end. I was promised a list by Tuesday of direct transfers if there were any, and I will post it when they send it to me. However, I am afraid the 10th place finisher keen is not going to pay. I went and chased him and he ignored me in chat boxes, but I hope he proves me wrong.

Therefore, Total Tourney proceeds = $1585.53(player transfers) + $245 (fee rebate)
Then, we multiply this by 2 for the Stars match, and the adjusted total is
$3661.06 all going to ICRC as well

What a great job 2+2 members!

(Sorry, some more thanks coming)
Thanks to Stars for stepping up and matching the tourney proceeds and some of the private donations. Thanks to Stars for providing fantastic support to me throughout this event. This has been more work for the support staff and Lee than most of you realize, but they have been amazing. We also need to thank Lee for supplying all the great prizes for final table players.

Thanks to the 2+2 mods that stuck this post and allowed this tournament and money drive to grow to the levels it did, and thanks to all who helped me at the tourney today.

While it has been a bit of work, I speak for all of us when I say it was an honor to have taken a few days out of our lives to help offset the worst misery I hope we ever see. The world has given a lot, but it still is not enough. Keep digging deep and finding other ways to help how you can, but for now, be very proud of what we accomplished in 4 days.

I hope I did not miss any names or forget to pass along any thanks that were earned, but will rectify that in the morning if it becomes apparent.
