I just heard it on the radio.

According to the story he was carrying a low 6-figures sum of cash. Evidently he beat back the mugger(s) and escaped....

According to Greg's radio interview both thieves got away. Greg had just finished playing a cash game at the Bellagio and was going to his room. Evidently the thieves knew which room he was staying at and were waiting for him.

Greg said that normally he keeps his poker bankroll with the casino but since he was leaving Las Vegas the next day, he cashed out and brought the cash to his room. As he was walking to his room the first thief, 'small guy' was walking 20 yards ahead of him with a small paper shopping bag. The 2nd thief, 'big guy', was still hidden. Small guy walks to the door adjacent to Greg's room and beats on the door saying a women's name for her to open the door because he forgot his key. Greg begins to open his door, when the second thief, 'big guy', grabs him and the first thief, 'small guy' pulls a gun on him. Small guy tells Greg they just want his money and they try to push him into his room. Greg hinted he feared for his life if they were able to get him in the privacy of his room so he pushed them back. At this point the story gets hazy because I was either too drunk or Greg did a lousy job of explaining the story. Anyway, the thieves ran away. The whole interview lasted about 2 minutes. The radio guy was a very lame interviewer because he didn't ask any good questions. And I still don't understand how Greg was able to escape unhurt and keep his money.

I guess the thieves didn't want to hurt him because they didn't shoot him for resisting....

men the master was being sarcastic.
There have easily been 20 threads on this topic.
Do a search of the various forums. It's everywhere.
Greg has commented on this several times as well....and on these threads claimed he lad less than $1k on him.

However, your info that you added from his radio interview is noteworthy since everyone has just read the articles and the threads.

"Evidently this happen 10 days ago..... He beat off 2 muggers. "

Turns out one muggers was named Jack Davis, who then tried to flee the scene by horseback. . . right outside the Bellagio, however, it began to rain and the horse was mired in deep mud, so Raymer then helped Jack off his horse. . .
