I just finished reading Harrington's new book. He said it is rare when you want to go all in. Phil Helmuth's book is bashed a lot around here. I tend to agree when you are talking about limit hold em. However, I think that his advice on no limit is not to bad for a new player. He says that you should go all in (if you act first) with wired aces, kings, queens, and A-K if you are a beginner. Who do you think is right Harrington or Helmuth? Last night, I was playing in a tourney and I went all in with wired queens. I was called by Kings. So, last night Harrington's advice was right as far as I was concerned.

is there a point in there somewhere?

tournaments have so many factors that lead to proper decisions that you cannot have general rules for unspecific events such as "only go all in with AA-QQ and AKs". It's idiotic to not take into consideration stack size, position, image, texture, etc...
