2 hands from a SnG tonight (50+5). I have no reads since we just started the tournament.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed)

4 folds, MP3 (Villian) raises to t40, 2 folds, SB calls t30, Hero calls t20.

Flop: (t120) 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, Villian bets t60, SB folds, Hero calls t60.

Normally, it's no set, no bet, but here I had a feeling that he might just be betting overcards. It kind of spawned from a discussion on the MTT about Gavin Griffin's call with 22. I don't claim to be as good as he is, but I didn't want to wuss out here against a potential AK.

Hero bets t150, Villian raises to t300, Hero calls t150.

The river bet was a blocking bet. Hopefully villian woudln't have the balls to raise me, but he might have bet out himself more than that 150 I bet out myself. Ultimately, I thought there was a good change I was ahead and the fact that the pot odds I beleive were in my favor to make the call

My thinking here is that I'm ahead. But when vilian calls me from SB, what am I supposed to do from here? There aren't any draws out there. I shouldn't be totally afraid of a 6, but stranger things have happened. He might be on a K with a weaker kicker for all I know

The Ace helps me, but if I'm behind a 6 I'm still behind, drawing to 6 outs. If he does have a King with a weaker kicker, he'll probably fold to any bet here. Should I have not bet here? What about the call on the end? Standard?

Hand 1: Normally I hate getting a bunch of chips involved in a pot that early with a hand like 77, but you're reasoning was solid and it turned out you had villain read very well (although I would have thought he would turn over something a bit stronger than K-10). Usually I'll need a read on someone before I'll make a "let them bluff into me" kind of play. Villain's min raise on the end is a bit frightening, because it looks like you are too committed at this point to lay down your hand for another 150...I guess he was hoping to make you lay down an Ace but didnt want to risk his whole stack on it - nice call.

Hand 2: ugh. Maybe you could have gotten away from this one, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that I couldn't. The clue is the flat call on your flop bet. You popped it from the BB before the flop, so you've represented a hand. A good king is a real possibility for you, as is a mid pair. So when he flat calls a nice chunk of his stack, with no draw apparent, what do you think he has? A six is not that hard to believe - given the preflop action he could have just about anything. You are hoping he has a worse king (which he probably would raise the flop with, if he was going to play), or some sort of pocket pair, which he would also probably raise if he was going to play. So....maybe you could have saved yourself some money by checking behind on the turn. When that Ace comes, if you are ahead you are so far ahead that it doesnt hurt to give the free card, and maybe snap off a bluff on the river. The Ace is also scary to Villain given your pre-flop raise, so you are not likely to get your bet called here by hands that you can beat (if he had A-not King, he would have folded to your flop bet. If he has weaker king, he gives up to your bet here, etc.) You are likely to see Villain check raise all-in with a six, and then the pot is offering you 7.5 to 1 on the last 370, while you are about 10 to 1 to fill up. On the off chance he doesn't have a six, I guess you can pay him off the last 370 (and I probably would have) but it may well not be right, as I cannot ever remember a situation similar to this where I wasnt shown trips on the end. Hopefully when you check the turn he doesnt move-in on the river, and you save some chips. If he does move-in, well, again, you are very likely beat but it's real hard to lay down top two...Tough hand.
