is there an ideal number of squares to buy? im buying some squares for the rose bowl -- i know that the more purchased the better chance of winning, but i could not firgure out if there is an amount that is that is the most profitable

squares-

-numbers are the same all four quarters
-one square can win more than once
-disregard the fact that some number combinations are better than others
-all money is paid back out

cheers

If you know the numbers ahead of time and can pick out specific squares, then yes, there is an optimal number of squares to buy.

If the numbers are randomly assigned, then no; each square has exactly the same EV = 1/100 of the total prize pool.

this should read "each random square has the same EV = 1/100 of the total prize pool"
