View Full Version : FINALLY, Moving to San Diego

So I am leaving the bible belt for San Diego January 12th. I have a few job prospects out there. Just really really sick of being here. I have a place to stay for free for about a month so the initial move out there shouldn't be costly while looking for a job.

Watch out you San Diegoers another fish is joining the party for you to take money from.

Go to PB, get drunk, and at 2am stagger across the street from Moose's to Alberto's and get a carne asada burrito, sour cream and cheese only.

It's heavenly. I've had people ship me a cooler full from there. Of course, this was 6 years ago, so Moose's may not be there and Albertos may have gotten shut down...good luck man. You moving to actual SD or one of the burbs?

Alberto's is sick. Hands down the best place to eat at 3am. Carne asada burrito. Mmmmmmmm...

I will be moving to San Diego, however If I get a job where it is better for me to be in the burbs, I'll move out there.

So what are some good casinos to go to around there? My friend will be out there for 5 days with me. We both love poker obv

Don't waste your time with the Indian casinos. Go to Ocean's Eleven in Oceanside. Take the Mission Blvd exit off of I-5 - you'll see it.

Good thing you didn't get here today.

Alberto's is good - is Roberto's still around? The three-rolled with guac was unbelievable. I think there was one between Del Mar and Solana?
I moved away in '93.

Congratulations, aside from super high gas prices and rent, SD is rad. Moose's is now Freds/Typhoon Saloon.

Wow, many a 2+2er in these parts. Moose's is long gone but there are Albertos or Robertos everywhere. Maybe we should get a san diego 2+2er meeting or home game sometime? Anyone in this thread interested, PM me and we can try to put something together. For you Melchy, shoot me a PM when you get to town and maybe we can meet up. Surfs up.

Yes there is. This is just up the 101 from frogs gym in Solana before heading down toward Cardiff. Pretty good spot to hang after a nice overhead swell hits the seaside reef. Walking distance actually. There is another one on Carmel Valley Road west of the 5. (This is my hood)

Goddam, I miss the beach. We used to drive out on Del Dios from RB. It dumps out right there. I remember parking in that state park area or something right on the end of Solana before Cardiff. Didn't they move the train station down there?
Ahhhh, good times.

Good ol' Moose's. What a meat market. $.50 wells on Wednesdays I think, but that was 15 years ago.

Melchy, you trading in your pirogue for a surfboard?

What about Old Town, anyone? Are Kelly's Pub and the Old Town Saloon still there? I had a lotta good times there. I don't know the cardrooms out there, but I can see where Oceanside would be the place, especially on paydays with all those jarheads at Pendleton.

This used to be my hood. I ate at the Roberto's on Carmel Valley all the time (and still do when I go back for work). It hits the spot. If you're looking for a sit-down "Mexican" place, try Tio Leo's off El Camino Real in Carmel Valley. I'm a big fan of their carne asada quesadilla. I used to be able to walk there from work (and almost walk there from my old apt).

I need to move out there. I was in SD a while back for some R&R, and that place was magical. Perfect weather, hot chicks, beautiful scenery.....what a nice city.

Definitely my choice where live if I could afford it :/
