No reads on the Button player. The table in general seems to be loose. I've seen multiple players bluff on the river with nothing but jack high.

Played just fine against most opponents I'd say. I wouldn't worry about this as you'll catch him on something besides an Ace quite often.

I would prefer the check/call, check/call, bet line as you risk a check behind on the river if you're ahead.
