View Full Version : What car should I buy?

Looking for a car that can handle snow (no rear wheel drive). Price range up to $30,000. Looking for something closer to 25 though.

I think having more room is a plus, but would consider a coupe or more compact car if all other things seemed right and it looked good.

I want both performance and economy but know you generally sacrifice one to get the other. I guess I'm pretty subjective about it.

I want a nice interior with nice features.

I generally prefer non-American cars, but that is not set in stone.

Looks are pretty important, but less so than comfort.

Right now I am considering the following in approximate order of what I'm leaning towards the most.

1.) Acura TSX
2.) VW Passat
3.) Subaru WRX
4.) Infiniti G35
5.) Toyota Camry or Avalon
6.) Accord

Opinions on these (or others not mentioned), or your rankings, or your experience, or whatever else will help with my indecision are appreciated.

I'd prefer one of these bad boys. Chrysler 300 Touring Edition. http://rds.yahoo.com/S=96062883/K=chrysler+300+c/v=2/SID=w/l=IVI/SIG=12jhf2vs3/EXP=1104284620/*-http%3A//www.e55amg.homestead.com/chrysler300/chrysler_300C_1.jpg

You've got quite a variety on your list. I didn't think you could get a G35 for < $30k. I think the WRX rules, but it's a little small. If you go a little over 30k you can get the STi which dominates, if you can stand the gigantic rear wing.

More along the lines of Camry/Accord - I bought a 2000 Chevy Impala new almost 5 years ago, and have zero complaints. They are around 25k. Sporty looking, but lots of room.

look at audi. quattro is far and away the best all wheel drive system in the world. a little spendy, but, IMO, the best combination of luxury, performance, saftey, and cachet that you can get for that money. also, i assume you're looking at new cars? i've seen three year old A6s in your price range.

I've never had a Passat, but I've had an Accord, a Jetta and a Camry in the past 5 years and prefer the Accord and Jetta to the toyota.

Brand new A4's go for around 36k. They're nice as hell though. I have a 99 A4 that I got for 19k with 30k miles on it from a foreign auto dealership nearby. Great cars. Nothing bad to say about them except when something needs to be fixed it costs a shitload.

Me too. This surpased the Audi TT, Lincoln Navigator, and Yukon Denali as my favorite car. I want one sooo bad.

I'd look at cars with up to 3 years / 40,000 miles.

I'd probably go 2003-2004 with the G35. Alo maybe with the Passat if I wanted to shell out for 4 motion.

The thing that worries me about Audi is I had a friend who had one and it broke down a lot and parts were real expensive. I may take your advice and test drive one to get my own opinion.

I was looking at both Rav4 and Honda CRV, but after driving my friend's I decided I didn't like the front seats. I also prefer cars because I drive pretty fast in the city and feel like SUV's are always about to roll when I take a corner too fast.

Not sure how it will handle in winter or I would be in... Especially if it comes with the Asian girls.
