Hi All,
The first hand below, I raised $400 to get rid of any flush draws, and when I was raised all-in, I had to call because I was down to $349, so I called.
But I think I should have just gone all in. Is going all in correct? And if it's correct, is it because I'm trying to get a flush to fold, or that I'm hoping for a call, because of my strong hand?

BTW, I only raised 50 because of my strong hand, and only one opponent. If I raise and he folds, I get only the small blinds. Now that I think about it, I should've just checked maybe to disguise my hand?

I think my error on this last one was trying to steal the blinds with the lowest pair, agaist a BIG stack, after he already called. Right?

Thank you for any advice. Steve.

Hand 1:
I think that your play postflop was entirely standard. With the min raise preflop, even though you want to win a big pot, I wouldn't do it.

Raise it to 150 or 200, He still probably would call with the hands you want him to (AJ, AQ, KQ, KJ) and folds the hands that make you play guessing games post flop. It is not a bad thing to just pick up the blinds.

Hand 2:
Not that bad. Personally, once the flush hits I'd check and call small bets hoping to catch a bluff or make my opponent think that a smaller flush may be good.

With the call on the end, unless you have a read on this guy as a bluffer, I'd fold it. Think about the best hand you can beat: the 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif. I know the Q seems pretty good, but with the T and J on board, it makes this bet on the end by him either the Ace, King, or a bluff.

Hand 3:
This play is fine in my opinion. Folding would be fine too. Unless he's slowplaying a big pair, you're probably in a coin flip situation. Add to that the dead money from the BB and your SB, and the small chance that he folds, it definitely seems like a fine play.

Keep posting hands. And checkout bisonbison's hand converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi).

Hand 1:

Raise more preflop. Then on the flop, there's no great reason to bet 2x the pot. "pricing out draws" is really kinda crazy read to put on someone when it's heads up, no? Since you were raised, yeah, you call, you have a really, really, really good hand for the flop /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hand 2:

You can bet the flop. I am chill with the turn bet, and medium chill with the river call. This is where knowing your opponent a bit helps.

Hand 3:

That's really a very bad push. Especially if you know the big stack to be loose. Eh, I'm revising this to only a decently bad push. I didn't realize previously that you were on the sb. Eh, it's probably still a very bad push. You've got a big stack limping on the button when he should be raising almost every hand. That's often suspicious. If it's not out of the ordinary for this guy, and he's tight, then it's a quality push! See, this is where more information helps.
