I have played hands like that before and I always end up saying to myself like 1000 times, "I will not slowplay in the Party 15, I will not slowplay..." The main thing here is the 2 heart semicoordiated board. Jam it from the beginning. Would it have mattered? I don't know but I think this is a good flop to lead into.

It's tough to fault you for attempting a flop check-raise with 5 players to act behind you. However, betting the flop has the advantage that no one will even suspect that you have a set, so not only will people call with all sorts of trash, but they will also raise, meaning you'll get to 3-bet.

Also, take a look at this. (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

lead out with the set on the flop, people do not give you credit if you lead at it.

The set felt VERY VULNERABLE and the pass on the flop was an effort to charge the various draws more, before the pot got big. Obviously failed. (See Results to understand why.)

niner16 shows [ 9h, Th ] a straight, seven to jack.
KingDavid22 doesn't show [ Ks, 9s ] a straight, five to nine.
nguyen009 doesn't show [ 9c, Qs ] a straight, five to nine.
niner16 wins $596.5 from the main pot with a straight, seven to jack.

even though you flopped the set I do believe you were behind niner the whole way. He made a mistake as much as you not betting. His number of outs was so high he should bet his opened straightflush. You both misplayed the hand and if I was him and you raises me I would reraise and cap each round.

niner is not ahead of hero, hero is the favorite to win. niner went for the cr also, but i agree with everyone here that betting the flop is better.

You cut your responses by like 80% when you post hand histories as opposed to a typical post.

Thanks Clark.

I will bear that in mind for the next hand.

I am still learning the lay of the land here.
