It worked in this one instance, but generally speaking, is this just a great way to lose more chips than necessary?

Reads: MP3 was a very loose PFR; other than that, no player-specific reads. The general table mood was aggressive preflop, passive postflop, and slightly loose.

thats the way to play them. If you check, are you going to call a bet? Checking screams that you missed the flop, and someone with midpair might take a stab at it. They think that you hit it because everyone who raises pf has AK right? Bet the turn and reevaluate on the river depending on the crowd and the types of players that they are. For me turn is a bet and fold to a raise line.

Looks fine. It's too weak to run away every time an ace flops, especially with a good hand. It's actually pretty easy to evaluate your hand here because if anyone gets aggressive on this draw-less board you're probably way behind.

Thanks for the replies, guys. This is a play I've been making almost every time this situation comes up, and one that I'd been rethinking lately after walking into a bunch of turn raises.

Yeah that's pretty standard line. Bet the flop, bet the turn, fold to a turn raise. The only thing you should consider there is what to do when someone raises you on the flop. The turn raise means Aces almost all of the time. The flop raise could mean many different things including the hands where you way ahead such as pocket JJ or TT.
