View Full Version : Weak play?

10/20 HE, 8 players, a decent guy to my right, some loose-aggressive player selsewhere. Some solid players.

In SB with AJc.

UTG (loose) limps, loose-callingstation-aggressive limps, button (decent guy) raises. I muck. Is this weak? I figure my flush draw is good, of course, but flopping an A won't help. Note that I play a VERY low variance style, which I prefer. My bankroll is very limited ($800). Is calling +EV here? I'm not even sure it is, since I'm heavily out of position, and if I flop a flush, with aggressor to my right, this heavily limits my ability to check-raise and trap the limpers, which is something I heavily depend on to make my winning pots larger.

Thanks!

The way you describe your play, folding is ok for your style.

But AJ suited in the small blind with several limpers and a

button raise should be played unless your an extremely tight

player. There comes a time in poker where it is right to gamble.

This is the time. The button could be raising with a weaker

hand than you to take control of the hand and maybe gain a free

card. I believe a much better play is to raise and try to get rid

of some or all of the limpers.
