Scenario 1: Do i need to pay $150 for the special laptop inverter with the surge protection and yada yada.

Or

Scenario 2: Will the $70 regular all purpose inverter with surge protection be good enough.

Or

Scenario 3: Just run any inverter and plug the laptop into it through a standard household powerbar with a surge protection.

Or

Scenario 4: Just plug it in through any old car inverter.

Ive had different salesman give each answer. So now i look to the genius that is 2+2 OOT.

Thanks

I say go with Scenario 2 (or better). One time I went on a road trip and we had some cheap old inverter and it became dangerously hot to the touch after about 15 minutes. So yeah, definitely cough up the extra cash for the quality inverter.

#2 will do. I can't think of a good reason for #1.

I just got back from a trip. We had a pretty cheap inverter and it did just fine.
