I have been playing on Paradise for about a month now. My results are positive, up >2 times my buyin, but my question is :

Do the # of hands played / hr online increase or decrease the size of the swings a player takes?

I mainly play in shorthanded holdem games.

Thanks.

Would depend mostly on your skill. I believe that your variance would be higher because of the number of hands that can be played. When you are pumping out 60+ hands per hour, a fish can blow through a few hundred pretty quick! A winning player may see a faster increase in their bank roll than would be expected in a casino simply because of Hands Per Hour. In the case of short-handed play you could see 90+ HPH which can make huge swings possible. I've won and lost plenty in these lightning fast short handed tables. Good luck!

just my experience, but common sense seems to back it up.

Online, the swings are MUCH higher due to the speed/type of play.

The only place I've experienced big swings is Paradise. Planet is just as speedy, and the swings are much less severe.

I've played at both sites, and in no way is Planet just as speedy. - Tony

I played at both sites, side by side, the other day, and I didn't notice any difference.
