Say the flop comes in all of one suit.
Its checked around.
Turn is again of the same suit.
Its checked around.
Finally the river completes a straight flush!

If you are first to act, should you bet?
Or should you let it get checked around and split?

Well first it does not mean someone does not have a better hand than the board. If the board is, say, all diamonds, ranked:

K Q J T 9

Then anyone with the Ace of diamonds wins.

But let's say that the board is the nut straight one of four suits (no flush possible, AKQJT), then I regularly will bet if I have a read on one of my opponents being dumb enough to fold. Poker is a game where you regularly take advantage of the stupidity of others. If that bothers you, it might be time to find another game! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I personlly did bet.
But felt a little bad about it /images/graemlins/grin.gif

If the people in your game are not retarded, just check it. You will lose money due to the rake. A lot of times you should bet it though, because people will fold a lot of the time, for some reason.

You should have checkraised.

Some one in later position than you probably would have bet.

I'd think whoever had the button would have bet automatically after every one checked since it would be obvious no one had a higher str8 flush than the board.
