View Full Version : Worst Swing

I am in the midst of a 90BB downward slide at Paradise. I play $1-2. I am ahead there but these swings - Big pairs are not holding up, sets are not holding up, getting hit by runner runner, etc.

Not complaining of Paradise cheating, I am just wondering what are some of the other one day (over several sessions) negative swings?

This is discouraging.

While writing this post had pocket A's on the button get beat by a runner runner flush draw. Sigh

I fell almost $600 at one stretch playing shorthanded 3-6. It took me about 80 hours of 2-4 to get it back.

In that 1-2 game....I see swings of up to 50 BB in either direction in a days play.

When the fish are hitting, you are gonna get hurt temporarily.

Also try not to write posts to this board while playing a game. Concentrate on the game and see that your AA is in danger from the flush draw instead.

Can you share how you can see when your Aces are in danger of a runner-runner flush draw. I believe this is the last skill I need to make me a world class player.

If you want the worst swing in history. Check the archives for my 33 days of hell post. I lost over 30k in about a months period playing 20-40 holdem. That is 750 big bets. It was a terrible gut wrenching experience. So a 90 big bet swing is not bad. I have also had plenty of 100 and 200 bb swings. So good luck it will all turn around. It always does.

Turned out you didn't lose anything of value.

You must not have much experience playing poker. 90BB is not that uncommon. Wait until you have your first 300BB! (or more). If 90 is testing your faith, you won't last long.

My experience with online poker (exclusively Paradise):

+/- 90 BB in a day, although unusual, is not that uncommon for me. Looking thru my records i have been +90BB (or more) on 6 occassions since May. I have been -90BB twice.

These records were for 10/20 stud exclusively.

Other large swings i've had......

+515BB in 8 days ($10,300) this included one period where i was up 190BB in 24 hours which turned into 280BB over a 2 day period.

Worst loss for a day.....140BB.... which turned into a loss of 230BB over 2 days. And for you conspiracy theorists out there... YES, the losses did occur immediately after a cashout, LOTFLMAO!

The swings i've been thru are sometimes ENORMUS.....both for the good and for the bad.

Also, IMO, the streaks and beats of 7 card stud are more frequent than in Holdem due to the fact it is much EASIER to be sucked out on in Stud.

All that being said...... what it boils down to (for me} is that over the long term (a year at Paradise) even with the streaks I still am up about 1.3BB/Hr. Not great I know, but at least respectable.
