I feel like I bleed the most chips in these situations by calling down.

Pot is small and you donīt have a very strong hand, a laydown here is in order. You must invest 2 more BB to win 7, not very good odds if you ask me

New here, and to poker, just my 2 pennies:
I would have called down in this case too.
He may be thinking you missed overcards and can scare you due to all the low cards.
Not too sure about stealing with TJ, I probably wouldn't.
