From all of the buzz about this guy, I just assumed he had better stats than what I just read.

Last year: .267 BA, 38 HR & 104 RBI
Career BA: .284

Pretty good numbers but then I read he has a 6 year, $84 million offer on the table from the Astros but is looking for 7 years and $105 million from the Yankees. Man that's a lot of dough.

I guess the market correction is over.

he turned it on in the 2nd half and was a stud in the playoffs.
i'm guessing that's what they're basing it on.

plus he's young and is a great defensive CFr.

he is overrated IMO, but still very good. I'll take a Vlad over him anyday though.

i think beltran is much better than the stats suggest. the astros are going to be a sad bunch if they lose him.

The market correction was really over when Kris Benson got 22.5 mil for 3 years from the Mets. That money would have been better spent on Benson's wife.

The best was when she was on Howard Stern. She basically said she'd do anything for Kris sexually but just prays he never cheats on her.

She did say if he ever does she would sleep with "Everyone on the team, the players, the batboys, the manager, etc"

I bet everyone on the team is praying he cheats on her, well everyone except for Mike Piazza.

OK, that's two posts about her now, with no pics. Very disappointing.

I wish I could get crockpot over to this thread because he ran numbers on it last year, but a typical MLB regular gets 30% hits of balls put into play. Guys like Ichiro and Manny have 33-34% consistently. Beltran initially in Houston last yearwas at 20%. Crock's analysis with a normal H% was something like a .315 BA with a ridiculous amount of count stats.

if I read your post correctly, you say 33-34% of Ichiros balls in play go for hits, is that right? IIRC, last year, Ichiro had an absurdly high %, something like 60%+.

During his hot streaks he was in the 45%+ range

Ichiro?

Dang, if I could find the article on BP I would. I honestly can't remember what the number was. What, what, what, what it was was his BA for all balls in play that weren't HR's, HBP, and I think sacrifices, so clearly we are talking about different things, my bad. Anyways, in case you are curious. Ichiro was in the top 10 for balls hit into play, but he was also in the top 10 for BA with balls in play that weren't yada yada.
