A pair in the hand worth one in the flop? (Paired flop)

Twice tonight I had a paired board and a pair of my own, and wasn't sure how to play. One of them I think I played too aggressively and then lost to trips, where as the other one I folded to aggression and would have won. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Now, in the first hand, I wasn't gonna call two cold, so I guess I'd do it again. On the second hand, should I have given up or called to the river?

I realize the first hand I could beat any non-trips, since my pair was higher than the 7, but on the second hand I could also beat anybody but trips, since I had the kicker.

Hand 1: The turn fold seems sensible to me. It looks a lot like UTG+2 flopped trips and waited until the turn to raise.

Hand 2: Overpairs to your nine aren't too likely, so mostly you have to worry about trip kings.

After SB 3-bets the flop, I think calling down is okay.
