Preflop play and "getting out of line"

What types of hands become unprofitable when you have played in a manner that decreases postflop folding equity and increases you opponent's value betting range? I'm thinking things like opening in lp/stealing with small/mid pairs, playing ace high aggressively heads up, etc. I find myself in this situation all too often, and find it hard to reign in the aggression when I lose the folding equity that makes it so profitable.

In most games I play my working assumption is that my folding equity is near zero. Same for most of us. That's why so many of our decisions are thin value bets on the big streets.

I think this is one of the things that has destroyed me at 2/4. After coming off 1/2, where your folding equity is generally much higher, it's tough (for me, anyway) to change gears.
