It was my first hand at the table and I posted in CO. Thought my play was o.k. at the time as I thought capping would be screaming AA but later on my thoughts were: 1) who cares if I'm screaming AA?; and 2) being my first hand at the table they don't know what kind of player I am anyway so don't necessarily know what the heck my cap means! /images/graemlins/grin.gif Anyway, thoughts??

Preflop: Hero is CO with A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/club.gif. Hero posts a blind of $3.
3 folds, MP2 raises, MP3 3-bets, Hero (poster) calls, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls.

Rest to follow to see what kind of trouble I do or don't get in...

I personally don't see any reason not to cap it.

There are times when I don't cap preflop but they're for deception and almost always in a scenario where I'm heads-up. Here, with a bet and a raise in front of you I would really prefer to cap. Neither of those two guys are slowing down and you are an unknown.

A poster who caps doesn't have AA. He's a maniac. I think you can get just as many bets out of postflop after capping.

for instance, I open raise with AA on the button, SB 3 bets me, BB folds, I call.

Flop: (13 SB) J/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (4 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, SB calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Turn: (10.50 BB) K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (4 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, SB folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

River: (16.50 BB) 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
MP2 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Again, in retrospect, I hate my River wimping out. Comments on these 3 streets??

I agree. Unless someone has notes on you already I think people will assume that you have come to gamboool and not that you have AA.

Results in white below:
MP2 has Kh Qh (one pair, kings).
MP3 has Qs Qd (one pair, queens).
Hero has Ah Ac (one pair, aces).
Outcome: Hero wins 16.50 BB.

Next time: Cap pre-flop; bet the River. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

generally i'm capping the vast vast majority of the time the only real exception being when the pot is going to be heads-up against a good player who might slow down or fold an under pocket pair early. Against bad players cap as you still get good action.

I would think anyone that liked the river would probably wake up and bet into you, I would say bet the river for value. If it does get raised, still have to call, just sucks.
