Assume:

party SNG
6 handed
blinds 50/100

stacks
Button 3000
BB (hero) 1000
SB 500

folded around to button who calls (button is a little laggy but has won with some solid hands)

small blind folds

you pick up A7 in BB you check (or raise??)

flop comes

A 9 6 rainbow

you bet 200 (or check??)

button reraises to 600. how do you play this??

you are likely ahead. I would go for a check-raise with or without an ace. That is, unless the button has limped hands like AJ or AT before. Most people on the button would be raising with hands like that. When the Ace flops, there's a good chance he doesn't have it, and is just bluffing it, thinking if you had the ace, you'd go for the check-raise. This is highly dependent on how often the button steals much (which might be hard to gauge by 50/100 blinds.

But yeah, I'm definitely check-raising this flop. When buttons limp, they are usually trying to do a cheap bluff and pick up a pot after a min bet on the flop. Either that, or they are slowplaying a monster.

sorry $10 or $20 on party

what if the blinds are 100/200 and same stack sizes?
