View Full Version : Personal goals for 2005

The General poker section has a thread on poker goals for 2005. I thought it was only fitting that OOT gets a more generalized version.

So weigh in here with your goals for 2005. Maybe it's to hit the gym more often. Or become a member of the Century Club.

Maybe you need to see The Godfather like kerssens does. Maybe your goal is to post more in one day than the rest of the site combined, like TSC.

I'll weigh in with mine once others respond first. But think hard and beware - what you write can be bumped back to the top of this page anytime, if you fail to follow through on your goals. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

- Get under 200 lbs.
- Break 80 (probably more attainable if I got under 200 lbs)
- Try snowboarding (probably safer ir I got under 200 lbs)
- Move up to the Party 5-10 (not conducive to getting under 200 lbs)

Without a doubt my main goal is to work out more. I used to work out 5 days a week and, while I wasn't a musclehead or anything, I was in really good shape. These past two months that's gone all to hell.

I'm also eating really bad. Too much fast food/soda,etc. Get back to low fat, high protein meals.

Also, get laid more. I have a feeling all of these are interconnected.

I'm getting married mid July so I would like to lose about 20 pounds before that. Also, I would like to be able to pay for a chunk of it out of my bankroll. Her parents probably won't let me but having the ability to legitimately and honestly make the offer would be good. Also, I want to be able to pay off my and my fiance's credit card debt.

Be a more consistent winner at poker (it is still a hobby for me), including winning a MTT.

Finish in the top 5 in the KOTZ year-end standings.

Make better posts in OOT.

Have sex with my wife more often than in 2004. (If you want pictures, ask Jim Kuhn)

OK, time for my own goals.

- Keep going to the gym. Just started recently, and it's going well so far. I've never been ripped or anything, but I ran track and XC in high school, so I've never been that big. I'd like to tone up a bit, just to spite my friends who have had kids and are now putting on some pounds. Ha ha.

- Pay down debt. This is a big one. In June my wife finishes school, so when she starts her lucretive dental hygiene career, we're going to be a two-income house for the first time in 2+ years. My big goal is to pay down the credit cards and pay off the cars in one year, which is doable but will be a challenge, as it's going to be tempting to splurge once we have two incomes.

- Get Strong Arm brewing up and running again. A couple of years ago I was doing some pretty good homebrewing, but the brewery was forced to shut down due to lack of funding. I want to save up some money for something like this (http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/f3-family.jpg) so I can really upgrade the whole operation. I make a mean stout and porter.

- Starting thinking more than one year at a time in my job. Figure out what the hell to do with the rest of my life.

some say money doesnt buy happiness, and i agree - but it does buy pretty much everything else in life /images/graemlins/grin.gif

1. Make at least two Vegas trips. Don't worry, I will post trip reports.

2. Buy at least two rental properties.

3. Make enough extra cash to buy some 22 inch chrome shoes for my recently purchased 2005 Explorer.

4. Play basketball at least 2 times a week for the entire year.

5. Get to the gym at least 3 times a week for the entire year.

6. Get promoted at work.

7. Quit my job because I am making too damn much money playing online.

8. Play with my dogs more.

9. Spend more time with my dad, specifically on the golf course.

10. Buy a new car for the wife strictly from poker winnings.

3. Build the bankroll enough to spend a week in Vegas during the 2005 WSOP
4. Buy one-carat diamond earrings for the wife with poker winnings

Anyone who listed "stopping smoking" or losing weight might want to try this guy nicknamed the "mad Russian". I went to him 2 years ago to lose weight before my daughters wedding and lost 30 lbs.

His office is in Brookline and there is a long waiting list to see him. It only costs $65 and you pay after the session so if you think it's garbage, you don't have to pay. Funny thing is, it seems like total bull while he's doing it.

He speaks in this thick Russian accent and you can barely understand what he is saying. He basically gives you his philosphy on life for 3 hours with about 15 minutes of nutritional advice. But he is very entertaining.

I lost his card, so i don't have the phone number but here is the web site for his book. You can get his name off of it and probably get his number from information.
