Hero is BB with KJo. Folded to the Button (quietish but doesn't seem fishy) who openraises, SB mucks, I 3-bet, Button thinks and calls.

I bet, Button folds.

Basically my only question here is whether or not it's better to smoothcall or 3-bet preflop.

Typically i call pre-flop, but against a tighter player, who is willing to lay down a hand on the flop, i like your 3-bet

Well played, KJo is better than a lot of hands button will be raising.

3betting not only is for value on this hand but it will definately stop him from making weak steal attempts for fear of a 3bet.
