scare cards hit on the turn and river, so I took a stab at it.

Either bet more or get out. I'd do the latter. You're not going to scare you off with 1/2 pot and 1/4 pot bets for 1/10th of his stack. Presuming you did hit trip, you're not going to bet out into the aggressor, so doing so looks like bluffing on a scare card. If you had to bluff, I'd check raise him all in. He can't call that without a 5 or a good read on you. (I wouldn't have bluffed at all given how loose some early games are. I've seen people call down all ins with top pair 7 kicker on a suited board.)
