Get a 2nd computer for data mining?

I'm wondering if any of you guys do this and how much you like it.

I'm considering doing this myself and just plunking down like $100 for an old computer and then like $100 or so for a monitor or whatever.

I play a lot so its hard to data mine + I always forget and stuff and it totally slows down my computer, so I figure I'd throw out this idea.

I think it's a good idea.. I was going to do it with my laptop but I didn't realize you need to be logged in to get hand histories stored on the hard drive (and I haven't gotten around to signing up for anything but Party/Empire). So if you play on Party/Empire you could only use it for the other 3 (?) skins (unless you have access to multiple accounts per skin).

Set up a VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/) once you have it going and you won't need another keyboard/mouse/monitor cluttering up your desk. You could also run PT only on that computer, and have it scan folders on your main computer for hand histories in addition to the data mining (which would speed things up on your main computer).

Beat me to it. With Gametime+ or Playerview you can get a decent read on someone within an orbit.

I play 8 tables at a time and don't pay attention at all besides what my playerview says....does this change your mind at all?

BTW 6-max NL tables tend to break down really fast and I usually play smaller session, so while playerview works really well, its not like most people stay at the table for 100 hands.

i seem to make it... somehow, by paying attention and using my brain.

i don't 8-table, but i 4-table 6 max while watching tv, surfing internet, chatting in IRC, etc.

I agree.

To be honest I used to data mine since I have a server, but most players don't change their playing methods from 30 hands to 1,000 hands.
