A winning hold 'em (and Omaha (hilo), and Stud 8 or better) player, trying to broaden his horizons, wants to know:

What are the 3-7 most common errors made by low and mid limit stud players? (In hold 'em, after a circuit or two, I can pretty closely identify what kind of mistakes a guy is making (playing small pairs up front, overplaying AJ and the like, etc.) and I have a repetoire of plays to exploit them; but in Stud, I often feel lost. If the deck hits me I win, if not I struggle.)

here are a few, but not even close to an exhaustive list for stud.

1) playing too many starting hands

2) calling too much after 4th Street.

3) overvaluing middle 2 pair in multiway pots.

In Mason Malmuth's book, Poker Essays, there is a list of twenty common stud errors. Buy it.

Here are a few:

Calling raises with hands that don't warrant it.

Sticking around with dead hands.

Chasing straights in unfavorable situations.

Missing value bets, particularly on the end.
