Seat Numbers Short Handed?

What are the seat numbers on a short-handed table? On a 6-max would they be 1-3-5-6-8-10? Or are they 1 thru 6?

I assume that the first is correct...just curious. Had a guy at the table talking sh*t on someone, and wasn't sure who it was.
