MASH has to be there. I never cared much for Soap or The Honeymooners. Andy Griffith? Leave it to Beaver?

I'm flexible. Since Seinfeld was a 90's show I guess I'd say pre 2000

I wasn't into MASH either.

My personal favorite is Married with Children.

I considered the Simpsons too, but I didn't include it because I don't know if you can classify it as a sitcom.

I don't see how you can leave "The Honeymooners" off since that pretty much started the genre.

Anyone remember the show with Chris Elliott as the 30 yr old paperboy, it was called "Get a Life". I thought that show was great but it only lasted a year.

I do and it was funny as hell. Forgot it even existed though. Also Bob Newhart is an excellent choice.

Any Classic (a true Classic, older than say 25 years)must include:

I love Lucy and The Honeymooners - they defined the genera.

Also: Andy Griffth Show, Green Acres, Leave it to Beaver and I guess, Gillian's Island.

Of couse many other great shows have already been mentioned. My favortie two are: Married With Children and Seinfeld.

"Get a Life" starring Chris Elliot lasted two seasons, which my friend has on DVD, which are pretty hilarious, but only 3 or 4 episodes stand out in my mind as worth watching.

And while I'll admit Fullhouse is kind of a joke answer when discusiing best sitcoms of all time (as if that is even a desirable list to be on) Bob Sagat as Danny Tanner is pretty [censored] funny when you realize he's only acting like a tool on tv to make the big bucks. He has great delivery, even if he's working with very family frinedly/ non-cuting edge material.

"Full House

ok that rocked. at least i knew you were kidding around.

btw golden girls is actually pretty funny, especially seeing the outfits they made maude wear.

see the problem is everyone is seeing classic and thinking like nick at nite crap.

funny sitcoms are: family guy, news radio, maybe the simpsons although it kind of ran itself dry. futurama and king of the hill are good. actually i think king of the hill is better than the simpsons. but the first two i mentioned are truly great. and seinfeld that's up there at the top as well, really funny.

bob newhart show, i love lucy, mary tyler moore show, three's company, and a few others deserve to still be on, but after that i find most sitcoms pretty hard to stomach.

anyone ever watch small wonder? or sledgehammer?

anyway family guy is hysterically funny and far better than the simpsons ever was.

omg i almost forgot get a life. what a great show. the episode titled zoo animals on wheels is probably the greatest/funniest thing to ever air on tv.

"Anyone remember the show with Chris Elliott as the 30 yr old paperboy, it was called "Get a Life". I thought that show was great but it only lasted a year."

there's a dvd set out. go rent it at netflix or buy it.

The latter. I keep forgetting how poorly sarcasm translates over the internet...

On a serious note, I haven't seen Wonder Years mentioned yet. I really did like that show growing up although I haven't seen it for quite a while.
